Florist’s Tip

This is an idea we gleaned from the Society of American Florists’ convention in Nevada in September ’05.

Find a local organization like the VFW or the Free Masons, or some such other group.  Set up a meeting with them.  You ask them to supply their members and their member’s cars and your flower shop will pay them a $2.00 per delivery (you can pay them $1.00, you can pay them $3.00, its up to you) to make deliveries.  The dollars will go to the charity of their choice.  In return they will deliver your arrangements at peak holidays such as Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day.

Another spinoff on this idea is finding a college group to make deliveries on their own college campus.  If your shop is near a college campus and you get quite a few orders on a Mother’s Day or a Valentine’s Day, you should investigate if there is a group on campus that can make deliveries for you for a $ fee.  The money goes to their charity.  As the florist, you just have to deliver all the arrangements to one central point on the campus.  They take it from there.
